Hazardous Waste Items That We Do Accept

  • Used motor oil / Anti-freeze: Residential drop off only ($1.00 per gallon with a 5 gallon maximum at any given time)
  • Sharps / Needles: May be dropped off at no charge but must be contained in an authorized sealed sharps container (available in our office or at any local pharmacy)
  • Batteries: Household batteries (No charge), Car batteries (Charge $1.00 per battery)
  • Electronic / E-waste: TV’s, computers, laptops, dvd players, microwaves, cell phones, printers, etc.

Hazardous Waste Items NOT Accepted by Humboldt Sanitation

  • Treated Wood Waste - any wood treated with chemical preservatives
  • Automotive products: gasoline, polish, & waxes
  • Fluorescent light bulbs and compact fluorescent lamps (CFL)
  • Mercury containing devices: thermometers and thermostats
  • Paint products: oil-based, latex, & spray paints, caulk, wood preservative, & wood stain
  • Garden chemicals: pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer, & insecticides
  • Swimming pool chemicals
  • Household chemicals: toilet bowl cleaner, shower/tile cleaner, carpet cleaner, rust remover & more
  • Many other items found in basements, under kitchen sinks & dark garage corners
